a mother's heart I'd been thinking about the 2 verses in Luke that say "Mary treasured these things in her heart." How overwhelming and confusing to attempt to raise the Savior of the world! ( I chose the Jack to represent Christ as the son of the King.) Her human perspective was so incapable of understanding the depth of Jesus. Everything he did was perfection. He never disobeyed, never disrespected... He was born to die. And then to watch her grown son performing miracles, casting out demons, loving the unloveable, saying things that seemed to make no sense... Even as an infant, he was a mystery to her. My own kids are somewhat of a mystery to me, and so I wonder- Am I constantly frustrated, perturbed and inconvenienced by the things I don't understand about them? Or can I be like Mary and "treasure these things in my heart", tucking them away for the future when I just might get the bigger picture? |
