Live as a daughter, inherit as a son

I had noticed that Paul talks about all believers having inheritance as sons, and I wondered about the gender in that wording. I discovered that in Paul's day, a girl's inheritance wasn't so hot, so it was a good thing for him to include all Christians as having inheritance as sons. At the same time, the "woman with the issue of blood," who had been bleeding for 12 years is the only person Jesus ever calls "daughter," and he does so due to her great faith. The story where he heals her follows on the heels of the healing of Jairus' 12-year-old daughter. We get a picture of how precious a daughter is and then Jesus calls this woman daughter. So I am a woman and glad to be a woman created in His image--I want to live with faith...live like a daughter and in Him enjoy the equality of receiving the inheritance of a son. I have seen Rembrandt's Prodigal Son painting in the Hermitage, and I have read Nouwen's wonderful book about reflecting on it. I identified with the picture of a son who had received both an inheritance and the mercy of a loving Father.
