Wonder of Creating
- Christine
I think it's wrong to neglect what God has entrusted to me in order
to be "wrapped up in" what I think life is about. The
Onceler was wrapped up in making more and more money. Serge was wrapped
up in how other people's opinion of him and making himself seem important.
I am in many ways wrapped up in food and clothing but also all my "more
to life" stuff. It's a constant struggle for balance. Here's the
other side of it...
Enter my daylilies - which Erin jokingly suggested I fast from.
Daylilies are just one example from the created world of the awesomeness
of its Creator. While botanists and average gardeners (like myself)
hybridize daylilies and "create" so many beautiful new cultivars
- God Himself placed within each of those plants the genetic information
to bring forth flowers as unique as the people on the earth. I love
the translation of Matthew 6:28 that says "Consider the LILIES
of the field." I'm determined to put that verse and verse 29 on
a plaque in my garden. God gave us the beauty of His creation. I think
that if we observed the birds as Jesus suggests, we'd find that God
not only feeds them but He also made them interesting and gave us their
songs. If we observed the flowers, we'd realize that not only does God
clothe them, He clothes them gloriously (Who did He do that for? Certainly
the flowers don't care!) and gave many of them delightful scents. So,
in my mind, Jesus is also giving a message akin to "stop and smell
the roses." Lest webecome like the Onceler or Serge.
