Rock of Bethal

When we were in Dallas, my husband was layed off. We decided it would be a great time to move to North Carolina to be near family. My sister and brother-in-law graciously said we could stay with them until we could get on our feet. Without a job or place of our own, we loaded everything we had and moved.

The very first Monday we were there, my sister and brother-in-law left to go to work. My husband and I just stood there in the kitchen. I was suddenly struck by the fact that we had no income and that nothing in this kitchen was ours - not even the food.

Then there was a knock at the door. It was a construction worker who was building in the basement. He was holding a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. He said they had these left over from breakfast and heard we liked KK doughnuts. I think I cried. Have you ever heard of construction workers having left over doughnuts? - Rhonda
